After a long-awaited trip to Andalusia and Seville, I became captivated by the world of olive oil. This region, known for its endless olive groves and rich olive oil culture, inspired me to learn everything about this golden elixir.
The Beginning of a Passion
Upon returning from my journey, I immersed myself in the study of olive oil and its numerous health benefits. The more I learned, the stronger my desire became to uncover the secrets and stories behind this remarkable product. I decided to embark on a journey of discovery—to visit the places where olive oil is made and meet the people behind the scenes: the farmers, producers, and olive oil enthusiasts.
The Exploration
At first, I focused on the classic olive oil countries—Italy, Spain, and Greece. These nations are renowned for their long traditions and high-quality olive oils. However, I soon realized that other countries also produce exceptional yet lesser-known olive oils. My explorer’s spirit led me to regions that, at first glance, seemed less obvious but had equally impressive olive oils.
The Art of Olive Oil Production
Throughout my travels, I learned about the importance of early harvesting, proper harvesting methods, and rapid cold pressing. I discovered that the key to the best quality lies in completing the process from tree to barrel as quickly as possible—sometimes within just three hours. This speed preserves the valuable polyphenols and freshness of the oil.
The Importance of Origin
Another crucial factor is knowing the origin of olive oil. Transparency and traceability are essential. That’s why I decided to meet producers in person and verify firsthand where their oil comes from. This direct connection with producers allows me to provide consumers with credible information about the origin of their olive oil—similar to blockchain technology, which ensures seamless traceability.
The Goal of My Journey
My journey as an olive explorer has not only taken me through the most beautiful olive groves in the world but has also shown me the importance of passion, care, and tradition in olive oil production.
